Animal testing Lab’s in the UK
Posted: January 3, 2011 Filed under: Uncategorized 3 Comments »They are well knowing Labs in the UK (HLS, Covance Labs, Quantiles toxicology pathology service, Bibra and inveresk research)
These Labs conduct testing on behalf of pharmaceuticals , agrochemical and house hold products, quite likely to be conducting tests for overseas companies as well.
Common type testing is for toxicity testing lethal does (LD50)
Animals are fed the substance which causes them to be in pain most of the animals being tested on die
HLS this is a well knowing company that torture animals in there labs
WHAT DO THEY TEST?
We have many examples of pointless experiments carried out at HLS, but the ones we feature here are amongst the most striking. Remember every drug or product that is withdrawn because of serious side effects, every pesticide that proves to be carcinogenic, every stupid ‘new and improved’ household product that we don’t need, Huntingdon will have forced that product down the throats of thousands of animals and then passed it safe just for it later to go on to maim, harm and kill humans.
CLEANING CHEMICALS
During this experiment, HLS forced pregnant and lactating female rats to inhale the chemical in varying doses by placing them in tube-shaped inhalation devices not much bigger than their bodies. This was not only to see the effect on the mother rats but the unborn and already weaning babies. The rats, numbering over 50 adult females and numerous babies, were forced to inhale this substance for a total of 31 days. Once the experiment was completed, the rats were all killed and dissected to have their internal organs weighed and examined.
Convance Labs
Covance, Inc. (NYSE: CVD), formerly Corning Incorporated,[1] with headquarters in Princeton, New Jersey, USA, is a contract research organization (CRO), providing drug development and animal testing services. According to its website, it is one of the largest companies of its kind in the world, with annual revenues of over US$1.7 billion, operations in more than 25 countries, and over 9,800 employees worldwide. It provides the world’s largest central laboratory network, and employs a global team of clinical-trial professionals and cardiac-safety experts. It became a publicly traded company after being spun off by Corning, Inc., in 1997.
Under the name Covance Research Products Inc. (CRP), based in Denver, Pennsylvania, the company also deals in the import and sale of laboratory animals. It is the single largest importer of primates in the U.S. and the world’s largest breeder of laboratory dogs. It owns two dog-breeding facilities, two primate centers, and a rabbit-breeding facility.
The company has been the subject of controversy, following allegations of primate abuse in its laboratories in Germany and the United States, and a potential outbreak of the Ebola virus.

Toxicology Pathology
They test for the presence of antibody to infectious agents in the serum of mice, rats, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, and rabbits. Our methodologies include Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA), Indirect Fluorescent Antibody (IFA), Hemagglutination Inhibition (HAI), and Western Blot (WB)
Bibra this was closed down
BIBRA Animal Labs Close Down

The British Industrial Biological Research Association (BIBRA) has a long standing history of animal abuse and torment, testing on behalf of a variety of companies ranging from Boots the Chemist to AstraZeneca. Rodents, rabbits, primates, beagles and other unfortunate animals were used at this Contract Research Organisation for toxicology experiments.
BIBRA (Woodmansterne Road, Carshalton, Surrey SM5 4DS) has a long standing history of animal rights focus, with the site being subject to mass invasions and protests up until recent years.
We are pleased to announce that they have now shut down and the site is to change into a school, with all the security fencing, cameras, alarm systems and laboratories being stripped at the moment; although all buildings are still alarmed.
Their sister organisation, BIBRA Information Services, is still in operation, running from a small office in the town centre, however they are not involved in conducting animal experimentation.
URGENT! RESCUE BY ANY MEANS! NIO
Posted: December 5, 2010 Filed under: Uncategorized 2 Comments »URGENT! RESCUE BY ANY MEANS! NIO is having trouble posting this, so for now repost it from here to anywhere you can think of. We stumbled upon a
horrific site Wednesday. I’m too new to know what I was looking at,
luckily someone else knew. 17 calves are locked in tiny chicken wire
cages for a redneck’s attempt at a vea…l
farm. They cannot move so that no muscle develops to spoil the veal’s
tenderness. *** THEY APPEAR TO BE SLAUGHTER AGE- URGENT.

INTRODUCING THE JOHNSON VEAL CRATE OPERATION.
Posted by Negotiation Is Over (.com) on December 4, 2010
While investigating a cat sanctuary earlier this week, members of NIO Florida stumbled upon a makeshift veal-crate operatio…n run by two degenerates living in broken-down trailer on a plot of rural property in Madison, Florida. Following is all of the information that
we can publicize at this point.
The Department of Agriculture refuses to intervene because they consider these calves “trash animals.”

There are currently over 18 calves on this property with no barn and caged
with not enough room to turn around. Dairy cows that we presume to be
the parents of at least some of these babies watch their children suffer
but cannot breach the chicken-wire enclosures or offer any comfort. We
saw what appeared to be at least one dead calf. Because there are at
least five dogs running freely in the unfenced area, we could not get
close enough to take the injured calf’s pulse and, therefore, could not
determine its condition with 100% accuracy.
On injured dog ran toward us on three legs, his/her fourth leg was hanging and appeared to
be broken. A “man” came to the door when he heard the dogs barking at
the car. We pretended to be lost and asked him for directions. When we
questioned him about the dog’s leg, his chilling response was: “yeah it
got hit the other day……it will be fine… oh well.” He proceeded to call
the dogs into the house, derailing our attempts to get the dog in the
car.
We learned that this Calvin & Pamela Johnson have been cited for animal cruelty on at least four separate occasions, have been
to court many times, and animal control officers are regularly called to
this piece of dilapidated property. We learned that Judge Blair in
Madison dismissed the charges on at least one occasion. Note that one of
the days when the Johnsons faced animal cruelty charges, Pam and Calvin
also had to attend a Domestic Violence hearing for Case No. 10-160-DR.

WHY?
Posted: November 4, 2010 Filed under: Uncategorized 1 Comment »For a three letter word WHY? it means alot,
We as animal rights activists ask this question alot, WHY do you test on animals. WHY do you kill animals, WHY do you abuse animals, WHY is it they law protects these people. WHY are people so blinded they can’t not see what is going on,
Vivisectors are protect by the law but why is this, is it all about the money, there is a simple answer to that and that would be yes, million and millions of pounds these people make, on animal testing read the following link..
http://www.health.org.nz/concl.html
We all know where the meat industry makes there money, killing millions and millions of animals, But when is this going to stop, when are people going to realise the pain and suffering these animals need to go through to put food on there tables, watch the following link to see what goes on…

MY RANT
Posted: October 5, 2010 Filed under: Uncategorized 8 Comments »For the last for days, I have been wondering what is wrong with people, That all they want to do is judge people and fight other animals rights activists,
The world we live in is so small and closing in each day, Us as human have destroyed this world, and everything that is in it, We kill our animals to eat, we hurt our animals to test, we abandoned our animals for hate,
We sit and fight amongst ourself over who is right and who is wrong, what way is better, And while we are doing this the focus has been taking away from the animals we are trying to save,
I honestly believe this, That people should go and look into a dying animals eyes and then if they still want to fight amongst themselves, then they really should step way from trying to help the animals, We really don’t need people like that on the animals side,
STOP and please think about the animals, They need us now…………….

Recently WAAR entered discussion with the administrators of Animal Rights Book and NewAR about how best we could focus a joint venture with our online operations. the result of that discussion was that the WAAR Social Network would become an online Animal Rights Social Hub managed and operated by all three administrations, WAAR, ARB & NewAR.
While all three administrations have always been dedicated to the animals and the movement we have differed slightly in opinions with which way to move forward in AR however with us joining efforts we have agreed to fully support and embrace the Any Means Necessary (AMN) philosophy which basically means we fully support the use of any forms of action from educational activism to physical enforcement as long as it works towards animal liberation and the good of the animal rights movement.
We hope our members will like the change and join us in getting the AR message of unity and dedication out there.
WAAR chief administrator for the social hub will be: Lorna Devious
ARB chief administrator for the social hub will be: Dev Ious
NewAR chief administrator for the social hub will be: NewAR
There will be changes on the site including administration changes, however most admin changes will be the addition of new admins who have come from ARB or NewAR.
U-M Universty of Michigan
Posted: September 26, 2010 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a comment »U-M Universty of Michigan
A world-class research university. An exceptional health system. Great schools and museums, beautiful natural areas, and a robust arts community.
Welcome to Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan: a partnership of “town and gown” that makes The Michigan Difference™ come to life.
That’s what it says on it brochures…
There is also other side, This universty strongly believes in animal testing, And also has it’s own animal testing,
Here are some questions they have been asked:
Why do U-M faculty conduct animal research?
The University of Michigan strongly supports the position that animal research has substantially improved the quality of life for both humans and animals. The treatment of many diseases have been successfully developed with contributions from research using animals. Joint replacement, organ transplantation, heart bypass surgery, and a wide variety of drug therapies have all been made possible through animal research. Further advances are in progress and will benefit from ongoing animal research.
How does primate research help people?
Many of the medical treatments we take for granted today would not have been possible without primate research. These include polio and rabies vaccines, chemotherapy, artificial joint replacements, coronary bypass surgery, and organ transplants. Current research with primates at U-M and other universities could lead to improved treatments for cancer, diabetes, alcoholism and drug addiction, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, AIDS and spinal cord injuries.
How many and what types of primates do you have?
Ninety-eight percent of all U-M research animals are fish, frogs, rats or mice. Less than one percent of U-M research animals are primates. Most are rhesus macaque monkeys. We have a few baboons and no chimpanzee
Who cares for the animals?
U-M veterinarians or animal care technicians care for our research animals. Technicians are certified by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science. Medical care for all animals is provided by licensed veterinarians or veterinary technicians with specialized training in laboratory animal medicine.
Our animal care and use program is a model for other biomedical research institutions around the country. The U-M has been accredited continuously by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care since its first inspection in 1971. Our animal care and use program is fully compliant with all federal, state and university regulations and policies, as well as national professional standards.
Who is responsible?
Before a U-M scientist can begin a study involving animals, a detailed description of the study’s protocol and purpose must be approved by the University Committee on Use and Care of Animals (UCUCA). This committee includes members of the general public, non-scientists and veterinarians, as well as experienced animal researchers. Applicants must prove they are qualified to conduct the study in an appropriate and humane manner. The review process is rigorous and often takes many weeks to complete. Even after it is approved, research with animals is subject to unannounced inspections by UCUCA members, who have the authority to terminate a study at any time.
In one of there statements they made they said this:
At the University, these animals receive humane and compassionate care identical to that received by pets in veterinary clinics or humans in hospitals. The people working with the animals have chosen their profession because they care about animals, and would be among the first to object if an animal were used unnecessarily or inappropriately.
What does this say, that they look after all these animals so well. I would say this open your doors and allow us to see for ourself. if you have nothing to hind.

Why isn’t everyone fighting for the same thing.
Posted: September 25, 2010 Filed under: Uncategorized 1 Comment »Why isn’t everyone fighting for the same thing.
We all say we want the same things , animals to be free, But when it comes down to it not many people are putting in the work, Take billy gregg we were all angry about what happened in that farm, but be honest how many people worked on that project???, Why is that farm still open for bussiness, We are supposed to be a movement of animal lovers and yet we let people go free, The law doesn’t support us, so we need to work harder as a movement together,
Please do not let us all devide in what we do, please stand together and fight,
Animal testing in scotland
Posted: September 19, 2010 Filed under: Uncategorized 2 Comments »The numbers of last years animal testing are in, where did we go so wrong thinking that it is right testing on all these animals, 30 testing places in scotland,
494, 584 animals were used in research experiments in Scotland in 2009. Broken down into individual species the following animals were used and killed:
320,202 Mice
4776 Rats
1994 Guinea Pigs
864 Hamsters
320 Gerbils
731 “other Rodents”
2187 Rabbits
1201 Dogs/ cats
69 Horses
1191 Pigs
22 Goats
4642 sheep
917 cattle
71 Deer
764 Monkeys
3187 Chickens
734 Turkeys
20 Quail
2536 “other birds”
953 Amphibians
104, 903 fish
Animals are often used in several procedures before they are ”disposed of” so the number of actual experiments will be far higher.
65% of these animals were experimented on with no form of anaesthetic whatsoever.
225,207 genetically modified animals were used. Again these figures distort reality as the number of animals bred and then killed before use will
have been much higher.
31 Establishments currently hold licenses to conduct animal experiments in Scotland.
6 infringements of welfare regulations were reported in 2009. Again this will be the tip of the iceberg as employees will be very wary to inform
on one another.
Although the total number of animals used has dropped slightly from 2008 these figures are still horrific. This data highlights the need for urgent political and
grassroots action to bring this situation to an end, Scotland for
Animals are working hard on both counts and appreciate all your help.
Help us right against this,
