Animal testing Lab’s in the UK

They are well knowing Labs in the UK (HLS, Covance Labs, Quantiles toxicology pathology service, Bibra and inveresk research)

These Labs conduct testing on behalf of pharmaceuticals , agrochemical and house hold products, quite likely to be conducting tests for overseas companies as well.

Common type testing is for toxicity testing lethal does (LD50)

Animals are fed the substance which causes them to be in pain most of the animals being tested on die

HLS this is a well knowing company that torture animals in there labs

WHAT DO THEY TEST?

We have many examples of pointless experiments carried out at HLS, but the ones we feature here are amongst the most striking. Remember every drug or product that is withdrawn because of serious side effects, every pesticide that proves to be carcinogenic, every stupid ‘new and improved’ household product that we don’t need, Huntingdon will have forced that product down the throats of thousands of animals and then passed it safe just for it later to go on to maim, harm and kill humans.

CLEANING CHEMICALS

During this experiment, HLS forced pregnant and lactating female rats to inhale the chemical in varying doses by placing them in tube-shaped inhalation devices not much bigger than their bodies. This was not only to see the effect on the mother rats but the unborn and already weaning babies. The rats, numbering over 50 adult females and numerous babies, were forced to inhale this substance for a total of 31 days. Once the experiment was completed, the rats were all killed and dissected to have their internal organs weighed and examined.

It is the single largest importer of primates in the U.S. and the world’s largest breeder of laboratory dogs. It owns two dog-breeding facilities, two primate centers, and a rabbit-breeding facility.

The company has been the subject of controversy, following allegations of primate abuse in its laboratories in Germany and the United States, and a potential outbreak of the Ebola virus.

Toxicology Pathology

They test for the presence of antibody to infectious agents in the serum of mice, rats, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, and rabbits. Our methodologies include Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA), Indirect Fluorescent Antibody (IFA), Hemagglutination Inhibition (HAI), and Western Blot (WB)

BIBRA (Woodmansterne Road, Carshalton, Surrey SM5 4DS) has a long standing history of animal rights focus, with the site being subject to mass invasions and protests up until recent years.

We are pleased to announce that they have now shut down and the site is to change into a school, with all the security fencing, cameras, alarm systems and laboratories being stripped at the moment; although all buildings are still alarmed.

Their sister organisation, BIBRA Information Services, is still in operation, running from a small office in the town centre, however they are not involved in conducting animal experimentation.
